"Free" Healthcare and other Myths
Long waits, delays in new drugs and medical research, exploding costs. Who wants that?
Most Americans, that’s who! Last year, a Gallup poll showed that a majority of Americans believe the government should run healthcare, either completely, or substantially.
As the saying goes, “Be careful what you wish for."
If Americans really understood the implications of single-payer, government-run healthcare, they would flee. But the promise of “free” healthcare is so enticing (on the surface), citizens fail to ask the next logical question, “So, how do doctors, hospital staff, researchers, drug labs, and the rest of the extensive healthcare network folks get paid?”
Easy. You pay them.
"Wait! It’s supposed to be free"! It is, if you pay your new enormous tax bill, generated by your “free” healthcare. The Wall Street Journal reports that “Medicare for all” would cost over $32 trillion in the first decade. How does that affect you? Put it this way; If the feds doubled your income taxes and doubled the taxes of every business in the nation, it still wouldn’t be enough to pay for “free” healthcare.
That’s when the real scary stuff begins.
Faced with cash shortages, the government would begin “restricting care.” They decide who gets treatment, and who doesn’t. The old, the very ill, the expensive cases, the very young with issues…tough luck.

For those fortunate enough to receive care- long waits, low quality, pain, disability, lost wages. It will be months before a specialist sees you, maybe even years. Need to see a neurosurgeon in Canada? That’ll be a half-year wait. Got growing cancer in the UK? Sorry, wait months to even begin treatment. Can’t walk without a knee replacement? See you in about a year.
Still want that “free” healthcare? You can have it, but it’ll cost you high taxes and poor quality.
Oh! And it may also cost you your life.
Turns out "Free healthcare for all" is anything but.
